The Science & Research Behind Mangosteen Juice

The mangosteen has been researched for 150 years, resulting in over 110 studies published in scientific journals, with studies touching on every system in the body.

Mangosteen Juice boasts a proprietary whole–mangosteen formula, harnessing a concentrated rush of xanthones—a vigorous family of next–generation phytonutrients.

Xanthones possess potent properties that may help:

  • maintain intestinal health*
The gastrointestinal tract -— consisting of the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach and small and large intestines -—
is a prominent part of the immune system.  Gastroenteritis is inflammation of the intestines and is the most
    common disease of the intestines.
  • support the immune system*
Inflammation is one of the first responses of the immune system to infection.
Symptoms will usually include a redness or swelling, both caused by an increase in blood flow.
  • neutralize free radicals*
Large molecules with powerful antioxidant properties, like xanthones, may stabilize free radicals.
Left uncontrolled, free radicals can damage cells, tissue or DNA.
  • support cartilage and joint function*
Cartilage is a dense connective tissue found in the joints, the rib cage, the ear and the nose.
The knee joint, one of the most complex in the body, is more likely to be injured than is any other joint.
  • promote a healthy seasonal respiratory system*
The respiratory tract is a common site for infections. Upper respiratory tract infections are one of the most
common infections in the world, accounting for one billion illnesses in the United States annually.

Xanthones

While you've probably heard of vitamin C, xanthones are slightly less well known. In short, xanthones are a unique class of biologically active compounds that possess a number of bioactive capabilities — such as antioxidant properties. According to research, the whole mangosteen fruit — as found in Mangosteen Juice — is the source of dozens of different xanthones.

Existing mangosteen research has been validated with thousands of individual accounts in dozens of countries.

Over 50 independent studies to date substantiate the health benefits of mangosteen. You can read many of these studies at www.pubmed.gov.

Over 200 xanthones are currently known to exist in nature, and approximately 40 of them are found in mangosteen. Xanthones possess documented biological activity that has drawn the interest of the medical community for several decades. First isolated in 1855 by a German scientist studying dysentery, the yellow compound was named after the Greek word for yellow, xanthos.

To support the discovery and development of this beverage, the founders of the Mangosteen Juice company referenced decades of mangosteen studies. From ancient beliefs to modern research, the whole mangosteen fruit is regarded for its health-enriching attributes.

Antioxidants

The mangosteen has also been shown to contain powerful antioxidants, compounds that inhibit oxidation or reactions promoted by oxygen and peroxides.

First, a word about free radicals: There is no escaping free radicals. They are in your food, air and environment, and they storm your body every day.

Free radicals seek out electrons in order to become atomically balanced and attack your body's cells, stealing electrons from any substance with which they come in contact. This damage—often known as oxidation—is irreversible.

But, before you get too depressed, there's good news: Antioxidants are highly regarded for their ability to protect the body from the deteriorating effects of free radicals. They preempt free-radical damage by donating the needed electron and balancing the substance, rendering the free radical harmless.

Just a few ounces a day of antioxidant rich Mangosteen Juice and you're fighting a molecular battle you may not have even realized was happening inside your body.

Phytonutrients

Derived from the Greek word phyto (plant) and nutrient (a constituent of food necessary for normal physiological function), phytonutrients — also known as phytochemicals — are natural, bioactive compounds found in plant foods.

Most phytonutrients overlap and complement one another, boasting complete benefits that include antioxidant effects and immune system stimulation. In short, specific phytonutrients found in fruits and vegetables work together with other nutrients to protect your health. These protective plant compounds are an emerging area of health and nutrition, with new research reported almost daily.

Phytonutrients found in the mangosteen include:

  • Xanthones
  • Catechins
  • Proanthocyanidins

The strongest and most researched phytonutrients of the mangosteen are its xanthones. The careful crafting of Mangosteen Juice's all-natural, whole-fruit mangosteen purée ensures that all of the impressive and healthful phytonutrients of the fruit enrich Mangosteen Juice.
